PROLOGUE

In 2027, Kudan House marks one hundred years since its completion.

Built in the aftermath of the Great Kanto Earthquake, the house has endured war, reconstruction, and the transformation of the city. Now, it becomes the setting for a once-in-a-century banquet.

LONGING — Tokyo Immersive Dining is an immersive dining experience possible only here—a singular, unrepeatable encounter that weaves DAZZLE’s embodied performance, Hiroaki Miyata’s structure, concept, and text, and Mineko Kato’s culinary design together with architecture, sound, and the choices made by its guests.

There is no fixed seating or stage.

The audience enters as guests of the banquet and moves through the house.

Across a century of hardship and change in Tokyo, people held fast to longings for joy, dignity, a place to belong, freedom, expression, and connection. Through “dishes of memory” and embodied performance, these longings take form.

The words of the story are delivered directly into each guest’s ear. Even when guests witness the same scene, it takes on a different meaning depending on the voice each hears.

Between a century of memory and a future no one yet knows, the question eventually turns to each guest.

“Even if everything disappears, what will you continue to long for until the very end?”

STORY

After the Great Kanto Earthquake, Kudan House was built so that it might withstand whatever crisis lay ahead.

That was the wish placed within it. Given a resilient structure, the house remained standing through later earthquakes, war, reconstruction, and the transformation of the city, until it reached the night of its hundredth year.

And in every era, there was a table within this house.

One day in its hundredth year, an invitation arrives.

“You are invited to the Centennial Banquet.”

Two figures await you inside.

One is Attendant, who receives the voices of a century and carries the dishes, yet has never once had a dish meant for them.

The other is Guide, who knows the passage of time through the fifth dish, but not what lies beyond.

Six dishes are meant to be served tonight.

The final dish has not been forgotten.

It does not yet exist within the memory of this house.

Then six figures from different eras appear within the house.

Architect, who sought to protect lives and the places people could return to through structures that would not fall.

Poet, who left behind a life assigned to them and sought to live in their own name and words.

Exile, driven from their homeland, who sought a place to belong, free from domination.

Performer, who carried sorrow yet sought, in any circumstance, to create joy with others.

Novelist, who sought to preserve in words, before it vanished, the moment beauty moved the heart.

Artist, who entrusted to colour and form the truth that their connection to the world had not disappeared.

None of the six can be contained within the single image history has preserved of them. Each is a human being who carries both longing and contradiction. The wish each refused to relinquish to the very end sustained someone—and that same wish also bound someone else.

You will walk beside one of the six and witness encounters and crossings that never took place in history. Each time the voice at your ear converges with the body before your eyes, a single scene takes on a different meaning.

In time, through the encounters and choices of that day, the sixth dish—the one absent from memory—takes on meaning for the first time.

For whom will that dish be served?

When the Centennial Banquet comes to an end, the question returns—not to a future still unknown, but to your own life.
